Women's Council of REALTORS Atlanta Business Luncheon

Boh Bohorquez, President – Elect, introduced Clyde Anderson, Author & CNN Financial Analyst, as the keynote speaker at the Women’s Council of REALTORS® Atlanta business luncheon at Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse in Buckhead.
Clyde Anderson was very motivational and informative.   Here are some of the bullet items from his talk on Thriving in the Midst of Challenge:
·        It’s not all bad!   Several people are thriving in the midst of adversity.
·        57 Months in the drop in the price of homes affects all of us.
·        Everyone has good intentions.  In 12 months, you change a situation.
·        What had happened was! (Individual stories are the basis for Clyde’s book.)
·        To fix the economy, we need jobs!
·        Look for opportunities, people are still thriving in this economy.
·        People do business with busy people.
·        Money attracts other money.
·        Even if you are unemployed, remember you are your business and give someone a business card that defines your professional experience or ability to consult.
·        Remember to use social media because that is today’s reality.
·        People do business with people they like (smile).
·        He who fails to plan. Plans to fail.
·        It takes 10,000 hours or 7 years to become an expert in your field.
·        Think outside the box to maximize your potential.

ABWA Crabapple Chapter Planning Meeting - August , 2011

Bylaws were changed to reflect that the Vice-President would become the President Elect for the following year.  We voted to change the meeting night to the first Tuesday of the month.  September's meeting would be community service with a data entry project for Every Woman Works date to be determined.   The next few months meetings will be held at different restaurants with the next one being held in October in East Cobb.   Heather Herrig discussed last year's surveys.   Everyone enjoyed the past speakers.   Heather and I went over the speakers & hostess coverage for the next year.  There will be 7 professional meetings, 2 community service meetings and 2 social events (holiday event/December and picnic/July).

We defined our goals and needs as a group:

Our ABWA chapter develops personal relationships with fellow members, serves as mentors to each other and the community, and participates in community service.

Strategic Planning was discussed and specific committee chairs:

Membership - Heather Herrig
Newsletter - Celia Dutcher
Secretary - Rachel Hillhouse & Tina Ojakian
Delegate to AAC - Connie DeSanto
Secret Sister - Sherrin Thomas
Business Associate - Pam Santoro

Last Friday of the month, the minutes, treasurer report and speaker bio’s are due to Celia for the newsletter.

Scholarship was discussed with target market of eligible women, guidelines to be followed due to regulations.

As my first act as this year's President, it was a productive enjoyable meeting.
