ABWA Nov 2011 - Connie De Santo - Leadership

November’s ABWA speaker was Connie De Santo, principal of CED Associates.  Ms. De Santo has 20 years experience in assessing, selecting, developing and coaching key business executives and their teams. Connie gave us insights to servant leadership.    Servant leadership defined by Robert Greenleaf’s essay in 1970 puts serving others (employees, customers, and community) as the #1 priority.

Top Five Qualities of a Successful Business Executive are:

1.      Sensitivity to others
2.      Personal warmth and availability
3.      Integrity
4.      Loyalty
5.      Superior business performance

Five Simple Behaviors of Successful Servant Leaders are:

1.      Value employees (treat with respect)
2.      Transparency
3.      Remove roadblocks
4.      Develop trusting relationships
5.      Become an advocate

In this global economy, strive to become a business of choice, an employer of choice and an investment of choice.
